Cool: Talk to Aliens

Thats right, well kind of. You can send your messages into space. Will an alien actually receive your message, who knows, but why not try and see. : )

The web site is very well made, nice alien images.

Cool: Clock that runs away

Ever wished that your clock would run away from after you would hit the snooze button, making you get up to shut it off? Me neither, but this engineer wanted one (he probably had major porblems getting up in the morning).

It's an interesting concept, I just wouldn't buy one, I'd rather a SleepWatcher (review) which wakes you up when you are not in deep sleep.

Game Of The Week: Pearl

Here is a nice little game. It's nice but man I'm wondering if you can even win at this game...

Anyways, go try it here.

PSP: Wow

I've been a good boy and I have managed to not buy one, but I did go and try it. I have to say, it is a very nice machine. And it's true, fingers are it's number one enemy!

When I go shopping, I love to give the salesman crap about his products, it gives me a good feeling to see him try to explain how it's not a bad. For example, I couldn't find anything really bad to say about the PSP so I went for those Memory Stick. It was funny to see the salesman trying to explain how it's because they use less memory compared to a flash card. Well, I'm sorry but compared to an SD card, I doubt there are much difference between their power consumption, plus with the SD you get twice the space for the same price. Anyways, he was trying to tell me all of this but I just tuned him out and played on the PSP.

This console is really great looking and feels good in my hands. The load time is long, but once it's running, you forget about it. The first thing you notice is the screen, wow, it's just so beautiful!

There were rumors lately on the internet about Sony not exchanging the PSP unit if there were dead pixels. So I asked the salesman at The Sony Store and he told me that it was not a problem and that they would exchange it. So it was just a rumor.

Well, it's a nice machine, let's see how long I'll hold up before breaking down and buying one. : )

Movies: The Island

Just found this trailer for this movie. I've never heard of this movie. The trailer looks good, and I believe that I will go see it. This movie reminds me of Conspiracy Theory with a lot of hidden secrets and agendas, which I really love.

Anyways, I'll be keeping an eye on this movie.

You can check the trailer here

Cool: An Inside Look To Pixar

There is this cool article about Pixar's workplace. It's quite interesting to read, especially the part about where the animators work:

Instead of cubicles, each of the animators has a customized space. A lot of the animators decided early on that they didn’t want cubicles, so instead, Pixar found these groovy little cottages that they bought for them.

This is very cool, I wished I worked somewhere like that. :)

App: tinySpell

tinySpell is a nice little application that runs on your system tray. It's a little spell checker that can check your spelling in any application!

It's quite easy to work with, but if you are like me, you will disable the clipboard checks because anything that you copy, like links, will be verified. But you can disable it quite easily, so it's not a big issue.

If you write a word wrong, you'll hear a beep and you can click on the icon to give you a list of possible words to replace yours with. It will even change it for you. It's a cool little program.

Go get tinySpell now.

Cool: Star Wars in 3D

George Lucas announced that he was planning to re-master all the Star Wars films for release in 3-D. He said that episode 4, A New Hope, would be ready by 2007. Which is the same year as James Cameron's next movie, Battle Angel, a 3-D adaptation of a manga is supposed to come out.

Movies: New War Of The Worlds Trailer

Comic: More on Robert Jordan's New Spring

There are more information on this 6 part mini-serie at NEWSARAMA. This is looking better and better. I can't wait for July for this to come out!
"And of course, Robert Jordan is heavily involved in every step of the project. His input helps us give the fans what they want; Jordan's vision and stamp of approval. With a series that has this much support from the fans, we’re glad Robert is taking an active role to ensure that the project turns out perfectly."

Movies: Ong-Bak review

I went to see this movie today with a friend. I had heard that this movie had some great martial arts moves in it. Well, I was not disapointed! Wow, during the combat scenes, you can actually feel how painful it is to be at the recieving end of those punches and kicks. The movies style of filming enforces those punches and kicks.

Thai martial arts likes to hit the head often. I think they believe an unconcious enemy is as good as a dead one. But the moves are awesome to watch on the big screen. This guy can also jump, there is this scene where he is being chased and he keeps on jumping over a ton of things. Really amazing. But this movie is very violent, there are a lot of fight scenes and it's not the kind of scenes you would see Jackie Chan in. It's hard to explain, but this guy's move seem a lot more violent than Jackie's. It must be all the head hits and knee hits. I would not recommend this movie to little kids because of this.

The story is ok but not super great. I must admit I haven't seen many Thai movies (first one) but can imagine this is a good Thai movie (since it's in American theaters). But that doesn't mean anything, I've seen great movies which will probably never see the light of day here. One such great movie is a Korean comedy called "My Sassy Girl", if you can get your hand on it, watch it.

Back to Ong-Bak. I did enjoy myself but I was a bit disapointed in the story, but the martial arts is just amazing, a lot of never seen moves.

Verdict: B+

Movies: Hitch Review

I took the plunge and decided to go see this movie last weekend. To my big surprise, I actually enjoyed myself. I was afraid it was going to be more of a "chick movie" but it was not that bad. Kevin James is just so funny in this movie. I'm not saying that Will Smith was not funny or good, it's just you feel for Kevin's character, he's a lot like most of us, shy and nervous around girls.

This is definitely a movie to go see with your significant other. Both of you will enjoy this movie.

Verdict: A

Movies: Ghostbusters Of LA

Alright, another movie by students of Dave School (Batman: New Times, Psycho Pump). This one is a live action movie based on Ghostbusters. The acting is not very good but the effects are very well made.

Movies: Psycho Pump

My god, I'm on a roll! Anyways, another short movie made from the same school as the Batman movie. This one is all in 3D.

Movies: Batman: New Times

And for you Batman fans, a Lego Batman movie, Batman: New Times. Sadly I cannot watch this movie on my Linux system so I do not know if it's any good. But the voice actors list is impressive: Adam West as Batman, Mark Hamill as the Joker, Courtney Thorne-Smith as Catwomen and Dick Van Dyke as Commissioner Gordon.

This can't get any better!

Movies: Spider-Man: The Peril of Doc Ock

This is a Lego animated short movie. It is very well done. You can check it out here.

Amazing: The Real Spider Man

I had seen this video last year and it blew my mine! This guy is amazing. He jumps from building to building and they are pretty far away.

Movies: SHOOT'EM UP

Heard about this new movie called SHOOT'EM UP? Me neither, until I found this article about a guy who saw the 17 minute personally drawn animated pitch for a live-action screenplay. The verdict? HOLY SHIT THIS IS COOL!!!
You remember those BMW / Clive Owen short films that kicked unholy ass online? This reel feels like those times 10. It feels like a mixture of that and the Matt Damon "BOURNE" films, John Woo's HARDBOILED and lastly Tom Tykwer's RUN LOLA RUN.
Ya! That's my kind of movie. I'll be keeping an eye on this! Stay tuned!

Game Of The Week: Squares 2

I've been playing this little game for a while now and I love it. It's great and fast. It's also very easy to play, avoid the red squares and circles and try to capture the black ones. :)

Go play it.

Cool: Toyota's I-Unit

This is a cool little vehicle. It can only has room for one person and I'm not sure what it's speeds but I don't think it can be that fast. Looking at Toyota's site and reading on this vehicle, I believe it's supposed to like a personal scooter.

You can look at the news release on Toyota's web site.

Toys: Lego Death Star II

Lego is coming out with a Death Star II which is the 3/4 finished Death Star. It's coming out on the 30th of September.

Hehehe, this brings back a lot of memories of my childhood and legos. I wish we had those Star Wars Legos when I was a kid.

Comic: Lex Luthor: Man Of Steel

Another new comic which I believe will be very good is Lex Luthor: Man of Steel. This is a mini-series of 5 books written by Brian Azzarello. It tries to show Superman thru the eyes of Lex Luthor. The reviewer seems to really like it:
As I read this book, I realized that for it to be successful to me, by the end of the book, writer Brian Azzarello had to tell such a compelling story, that I would take Luthor’s side and see Superman as he does: a threat to humanity. And by the end of the story, that is exactly what happened.
This sounds very good!

Comic: Ultimate Iron Man

Orson Scott Card will be writing the Ultimate Iron Man series. He is the writer of Ender's Game, a series of books that I have yet to read. But I did hear that it is a great series.

So this should be interesting to see, especially as the first comic won't even have Anthony Stark in it! It's all about his dad and his spray on paint!

Google has updated their Google Desktop recently. This new upgrade adds a lot of new features like: Video and music search, Thunderbird mail, Mozilla family of browsers and more.

I had really liked the search capabilities but I have not used much because I hated how it had to go thru the web browser. But now you can search with a little program. :)

I am going to install it at work tonight and I'll make a little review in a coupe of days.

Anime: Anime Radios

I have been wanting to post some anime radios for a while but I kept forgetting. Anyways, I've been listening two good radio stations lately which plays JPop and Anime related music. You will need to have Winamp or equivalent.

First is the Japan-a-Radio which is one of the bigger radios. It does some commercials and it also has some dj's sometimes.

Second is Kawai-Radio which has no commercial as I know of.

These two are my favorites and of course there are a ton more that exist.

This is just amazing, a bit too amazing. NovaLogic, creators of the forthcoming game, Delta Force - Black Hawk Down, will feature mega online battles with up to 50 persons in one arena!

Halo 2 can't manage more than 16 players and NovaLogic believes they can get 3 times more players online... It would be nice and I can't wait to see if they can do it.

That's right, it looks like Microsoft has scored more exclusive titles from elite Japanese developpers. Yoshiki Okamoto, president of Game Republic, Inc., and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, Creator and Co-founder, Q Entertainment Inc. will be making exclusive games for Microsoft.

This is interesting as the first generation of the XBox had problems getting Japanese developpers to make games for it. And now, in less then a week, we get news that 3 highly respected developpers in the industry will be making content for the XBox 2.
